It is a process in which oil seeds are pressed only once to extract their oil, without any heat below 30oC temperature. This type of oil extraction preserves the nutritional properties of the oil (antioxidants, vitamins, essential fatty acids, pigments, tocopherols etc.) as well as their natural aromas.
The extracted oil is further filtered to get rid of its seed residue and then bottled in hygienic condition. The term “virgin” is the equivalent of first cold-pressed and can be used for all varieties of oil.
